Set in rural Mississippi — the birthplace of America’s first community health center — The Line explores the fragile reality of women's access to preventive healthcare today.
When a rural clinic faces uncertainty, women waiting for care are forced to confront the fragile line between access and being left behind.
Preventive care saves lives, but for many women, access depends on geography, transportation, affordability, and whether local care remains available.
The Line is also being developed as a health literacy and community awareness tool for screenings, panels, and conversations on access to preventive healthcare.

Theresa T Patton is a healthcare access strategist, researcher, and emerging film producer whose work sits at the intersection of women’s health, preventive care, insurance coverage, and health equity.
Inspired by her doctoral research on preventive care utilization among women in Mississippi and Louisiana, The Line reflects her commitment to using storytelling to make healthcare access issues visible, human, and actionable.
The Line is a sponsored project by Fractured Atlas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts services organization.
Contributions for the charitable purposes of The Line must be made payable to "Fractured Atlas" and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
